External morphology
Up to 45 mm. 4 pairs of eyes. Lighter median stripe with 2 darker lateral stripes. Both genital pores are between annuli. 3 annuli separating genital pores.

Biology
In lowlands of Central Europe present only in flowing waterbodies. In higher altitudes present also in standing waterbodies. Prefering colder waters than Erpobdella octoculata
